Instructions and rules. Aim of the game. The aim of Klondike Solitaire is to move all the cards from aces to kings to the four foundation piles. The layout. The layout of Klondike consists of three areas. The tableau piles. The tableau consists of seven piles, each with only one card facing up. There’s one card in the first pile, two in the second pile and so on. If you move the top card the next card is turned face up. The stock pile. The foundation piles. The game is won when all 52 cards are moved
to the foundation piles. The following moves are valid. The cards in the stock pile can be turned
three and three into a pile next to it. The top card in this pile is free and playable. A free card from the tableau piles can be
moved to another tableau pile if it has a different color and a rank one
less than the top card of the destination pile. In the same way, a free card from the stock pile can be moved to a tableau pile. An ace can be moved to it’s foundation pile. A card can be moved to it’s foundation pile if the rank of the card is one above the top card of the foundation pile. Only a king can be moved to an empty tableau pile. Piles of cards built downwards by rank and alternating color can be moved to another pile when the first card is of a different color and a rank one less than the top card of the destination pile. The entire stock pile can be turned when it
is empty in order to start over.
